The Celts were a group of people who lived in Europe during the Iron Age and Medieval period, from around 700 BC to 1200 AD. They were skilled in many different activities and crafts, such as metalworking, weaving, and woodworking, and had a rich culture that is still celebrated today.

At Appalachian Highland Celts, we are dedicated to teaching people about the activities and crafts of ancient Celts, and preserving this rich cultural heritage for future generations. Here are some of the activities and crafts that we focus on:

Metalworking: The Celts were known for their intricate metalwork, which included jewelry, weapons, and other decorative objects. We offer classes in Celtic knotwork and metal casting, so you can learn how to create your own Celtic-inspired pieces.

Weaving: The Celts were skilled weavers, and their textiles were prized throughout Europe. We offer classes in traditional Celtic weaving techniques, as well as workshops on dyeing and spinning wool.

Woodworking: The Celts were also skilled woodworkers, and their furniture and carvings were highly prized. We offer classes in woodworking, including carving and joinery, so you can learn how to create your own Celtic-inspired furniture and decorative objects.

In addition to these specific crafts, we also offer classes in Celtic music, dance, and language, so you can immerse yourself in the rich culture of the Celts. Our classes are taught by experienced instructors who are passionate about sharing their knowledge with others, and we offer a supportive and welcoming learning environment for all.
